    Australopithecines have been found in both the Southern and Eastern parts of Africa. These areas exhibit unique geological conditions that have allowed fossils to be preserved for millions of years. These regions are South Africa in the Limestone caves and in Eastern Africa the sedimentary basins and the river drainage systems.
