Rivers are less productive than swamps because rivers just flow, they do nothing to the earth but bring water. Swamps are dirty and filthy, this allows many organisms to live there that cant live in rivers and it has protection.

Rivers are productive but swamps are more because they can provide shelter and are home to millions of bacterias that can't live anywhere else.
