What is the importance of the large amounts of ribosomes in chloroplasts?

    Ribosomes don't have anything to do with increased surface area. The inner folds within the thylakoid increase surface area. The ribosomes make protein, so the more ribosomes, the more chlorophyll can be made by the chloroplasts.

    For a larger surface area for protein synthesis.
