Collateral sprouting substitution of function and neurogenesis are examples of brain plasticity.

Brain plasticity is the ability of the brain to change throughout life. The brain reorganizes itself by producing new neural pathways between the brain cells (neurons). Brain plasticity occurs in the brain at the early stage of life, during brain injury and also through adulthood. Certain factors such as an individual's actions, environment, and genetic factors play an important role in plasticity.
