There are 2 main theories explaining why we age:
1. Programmed Theory: There are switches in our genes which control the rate at which we age and a time line has already been programmed into our gene code.
2. Error Theory: Over time due to environmental exposure and accumulation of replication errors are gene code gets cluttered and starts to deteriorate leading to aging.
