When seeing her preterm infant in the neonatal intensive care unit for the first time, a mother exclaims, "my baby is so little! how will i ever be able to take care of it?" what does the nurse explain to the mother?

    Answer:The nurse could have explained the mother that the baby is looking so small because it is a preterm baby. Soon after one or two months the baby will be normal and it would not be difficult for you to take care of the baby. Moreover, an infant doubles its height and weight in very less time and then it would not be so difficult to take care of it.

    The organs of a preterm baby is not fully developed and it looks very sensitive and little at that time which becomes normal after sometime.
