High levels of air pollution can cause an increased risk of heart attack, wheezing, coughing, and breathing problems, and irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat. Air pollution can also cause worsening of existing heart problems, asthma, and other lung complications

There are many answers to this question. Pollution is caused by humans, greenhouse gases, use of non renewable fuel, factories, oil spill, plastic waste, etc. The effects of this is that the ozone layer is slowly breaking down and global warming gets worse as time passes. Animals also get caught up in old and discarded fishing nets or even eat the plastic waste.
