What does it mean for a membrane to be selectively permeable?

Only certain molecules are allowed to pass through.

The membrane is rigid and only allows water to pass through.

    It is said to have a partially permeable membrane because it only allows smaller molecules such as h20 and doesn't allow molecules such as glucose through
