How does industry affect coastal protection? Also state your opinion about whether industries should have the right to protect their interests when it comes to the environment.

    Industrial development has changed, disturbed and demolished coastal ecosystems, along with the unstable habitats. Many important industrial centres are located on estuaries and in the vicinity of urban areas and ports. Some of the affects of industries on coastal regions include smelting and processing of iron ore, oil and gas refining and storage, food processing etc.

    Several pipelines, energy cables buried deep into the earth surface create problems for the people in coastal region. Activities like construction and activities associated with engineering may often cause permanent damage of habitats or results in decrease of fragmentation of of habitats, due land claim, coastal protection, extraction of material from the surface, disposal and dumping. Degrading at sea may cause physical disturbance of the region and also may result in the reshuffle the contaminants. This is how the industries affect the coastal regions. Yes, industries must protect their interests when it comes to the environment by using environmental friendly items and reducing waste production. Industries must aim at reducing air and water pollution and also must incorporate the concept of reuse, reduce and recycle.
