The three fingerprint ridge patterns are: Loop, Whorl, and Arch.

Loop pattern accounts for 70% of all fingerprints. It has two types of loop pattern; the ulnar loop and the radial loop. The ridges in loop patterns will flow from one side, recurve, and loop around an imaginary line from the delta to the core. It has only one delta.

Whorl pattern is composed of almost concentric circles. It has two deltas. It accounts for 25% of fingerprints. It has four types of whorl pattern: plain whorl, central pocket loop whorl, double loop whorl, and accidental whorl.

Arch pattern has no delta. Ridges with arch pattern flow in from one side and flow out in the opposite side. It accounts for 5% of the fingerprint. It has two types of arch pattern: plain arch and tented arch.
