The six kingdoms is a classification of living organisms according to their similarities and/or common characteristics. Some of those characteristics include cell type, nutrient acquisition, and reproduction.
1. Archaebacteria
Single-celled prokaryotes with the unique ribosomal RNA type. They use asexual reproduction and different kinds of metabolism.
2. Eubacteria
Prokaryotic microorganisms, with asexual reproduction, different in body shape and nutrition.
3. Protista
Very diverse group of eukaryotic organisms (algae). Mostly asexual reproduction, O2 required for metabolism.
4. Fungi
Unicellular and multicellular heterotrophic, eukaryotic organisms. Sexual reproduction or asexual reproduction, absorption is a most common way of feeding.
5. Plantae
The group of photosynthetic organisms which includes vascular and nonvascular plants, flowering and nonflowering plants, as well as seed-bearing and non-seed bearing plants.
6. Animalia
Multicellular eukaryotes with heterotrophic nutrition.
