The other is behavioral change between individuals of a population. This is especially significant when the behavioral change affects mating and causes it to be non-random. This occurs when certain individuals tend to mate within themselves hence over time they become reproductively isolated from the rest of the population causing speciation.

A natural disaster, such as an earthquake or volcanic eruption, could affect the evolution of a species genome. These disasters could kill a large number of organisms at once, decreasing the genetic variation in the gene pool. in some cases, large populations may become separated, which can lead to several smaller populations evolving in different ways.
