The correct answer is: a. they should use antibiotics only when necessary.

Superbug is a microbe which resists the effects of medication that once could successfully treat that microbe. Their ability to resist is called antimicrobial resistance. Resistance might occur in different ways: naturally, via genetic mutation, or by one species acquiring resistance from another.

Using antibiotics only when needed stops potentially misuse of antibiotics (overuse).

The correct answer is option (A) they should use antibiotics only when necessary.

Antibiotics are the antimicrobial substances that inhibit the growth of bacteria. Continuous or frequent use of antibiotics make the bacteria develop resistance to them. They can easily survive and reproduce even in the presence of antibiotics. This is due to the mutations in the bacteria making them resistant to antibiotics and creating new strains of resistant bacteria called the "superbugs". Many bacterial pathogens associated with human epidemic diseases have developed multi-drug resistant forms. The main reason being the frequent usage of antibiotics unnecessarily. Thus, antibiotics should be used only when necessary.
