    Intramembranous ossification is a process whereby bone is formed from fibrous membranes as opposed to endochondral ossification, in which bone is formed from cartilages.

    During intramembranous ossification, mesenchymal cells (multipotent stem cells) differentiates into osteoblasts which then calcifies to become bone, a process called ossification.

    The initial formation of the roof of our skulls can be ascribed to intramembranous ossification and also the jaw and clavicle
