Amphetamines are potent central nervous system stimulant that is used of several medical conditions such as hyperactivity disorder, narcolepsy and obesity. But just like any other drug, it is highly addictive and destructive if not used properly. Side effects of amphetamines can range from mild to sever depending on three things: user's medical state, body composition and dosage of amphetamine. It can have a short-term or long-term effect. Short term effects include quicker reaction times, high energy, excitement, increased attentiveness and concentration and feeling of euphoria. Long-term effects, on the other hand, include paranoia, hallucinations, violent behavior, drug dependence, convulsions, respiratory problems, loss of coordination and obsessive behavior. This long-term use may lead to amphetamine overdose which has several dangerous or fatal effects on the user including psychosis, alarming high blood pressure, chest pain, loss of consciousness, stroke and heart attack.
