Errors in the process of mitosis can lead to various types of serious problems.

Uncontrolled cell division (by the process of mitosis) can lead to the formation of tumour and cancer. Hence, it is very important for the body to regulate the process of mitosis properly.

Aneuploid cells can occur due to error in mitosis. In this situation, cells can have more or fewer chromosomes than the actual requirement.

Trisomy and monosomy can occur due to errors in disjunction. Trisomy is the daughter cell which receives three copies of a chromosome instead of two. Monosomy is a condition in which the other daughter cell will receive only one copy of the chromosome.
