    conditioned stimulus

    Explanation:

When a biologically potents stimulus gets paired with a stimulus which was previously neutral then this process is known as classical conditioning. The biologically potent stimulus is known as an unconditioned stimulus such as taste of the food which results in a natural response. The conditioned stimulus is the one which was previously just a neutral stimulus however, upon getting paired up with the unconditioned stimulus becomes a stimulus that result in a conditioned response. For example, the sound of the electric can opener is a conditioned stimulus for the cats as this leads to salivation.
