    ORI (origin of replication)

    Explanation:

Plasmids are capable of independent replication. This means that plasmids can replicate themselves and do not require a genomic chromosome of the bacteria for their replication. The ability of plasmids to replicate themselves is due to the presence of "ORI (origin of replication) " in them. ORI is the specific DNA sequence where the process of DNA replication starts. Plasmids replicate themselves and are carried to over the successive generations of bacteria.
