    The heart is in the diastole phase. In the diastole phase, the heart muscle relaxes and allows the chambers to fill with blood in preparation for the next cycle. In the systole phase, on the other hand, the heart muscles contract and this causes the ejection of blood into the aorta and pulmonary trunk.
