    The digestive system is the body system that does not work with the immune system to regulate internal body functions.

    Explanation: The digestive system comprises of organs which break food into smaller particles to absorb nutrients.

    Digestion starts from the mouth. The food is grounded by the teeth and mixed with saliva for easy swallowing. A chemical called enzyme in the saliva breaks down carbohydrates into sugars and when it is swallowed, muscular contractions of the oesophagus massage the ball of food down into the stomach. It will then pass through the stomach, small intestine and pancreas.

    When the nutrients have been absorbed, the waste moved into the large intestine. Water is removed and the waste (faeces) is stored in the rectum. It will then be passed out of the body through the anus.
