The type of tissue that is capable of stretching and changing its shape and lines the urinary bladder and ureters is Transitional epithelium tissue.

    Explanation:

Transitional epithelium is a kind of stratified epithelium. This transitional epithelium tissue consists of several layers of epithelial cells. These cells undergoes contraction and expansion in order to adjust to the degree of expansion needed.

Depending on the layers in which the transitional epithelium resides its appearance varies. The cells in the base or the lower layer are cuboidal and columnar where the cells in the upper layer varies in appearance depending on the degree of expansion.

When the tube or the organ is not stretched the transitional epithelium appears in cuboidal shape with domed apex. The cells becomes flattened, squamous and irregular when the tube or organ is stretched.

Urothelium is a transitional epithelium that lines the organs present in the urinary system. This transitional epithelium tissues acts as an osmotic barrier between the contents present in the urinary tract and the neighbouring tissues and organs. It is also relatively impermeable to salts and water.
