Mr. james has end stage renal disease (esrd). he has been covered under original medicare but would like to know if he can enroll in a medicare advantage plan. what should you tell him?

    I would tell him that it's understandable that he wants to cover as much protection as he can for his health. But, despite all his efforts, he's going to end up spending more money that's not going to be useful because of his terminal condition. I would suggest he spends money on his family or charities.

    People who have end stage renal diseases are typically covered under original medicare. Such people can only be eligible to enroll for medicare advantage plan under some circumstances. The circumstances include the following;

    1. If the person has already enrolled for medical care advantage before the person develop the end stage renal disease.

    2. If the person is already getting his health benefits via the same company which offer the medicare advantage plan.

    3. If the person has had a successful kidney transplant and is still eligible for medicare benefits.
