Twins may be defined as the production of two offspring during the same pregnancy. Two main classification of twins are monozygotic twins and the dizygotic twins.

The genetic constitution of the individual determines the genotype and phenotype of the organisms. Sometimes the environmental factors may affect the phenotype of the particular trait. The concordance rate differentiation for monozygotic and dizygotic twins is due to the genetic factors as well as by the environment factors.
