Fossils, The composition of Sedimentary Rocks and the texture of Sedimentary Rocks.

They also use tree rings, sea floor sediment, and ice cores.

    Explanation:

Fossils are usually stored in a fossil record which stores every fossil on earth. Fossils can show how lifeforms have changed over the years.

Ice Cores provide a history of earth's climate over time. The size of each layer shows how much precipitation fell during that specific time period.

Trees can tell us the climate conditions in the tree's life. Thick tree rings=good conditions, thin tree rings = poorer growing conditions.

Isedimentary rocks show earth's history by layers. Different layers can contain fossils form different time periods. Scientists can examine how the earth has evolved over time.

The composition indicates the source of the rock whole the texture indicates the environment in which it was transported and deposited in.

    Hopefully this is detailed enough!
