    I believe the answer is Alchemy was scientific because it included observations and experiments

    Even though later on most people aware that alchemy is practically impossible, people in the past actually studied it with scientific method.

    Alchemy believe that you could transform core matters in the universe (such as turning Gold into stones).

    In the quest to do this, many scientists actually follow an actual scientific method in order to find the truth about the possibilities, using observations and experiments
