Why is it cooler in mountains than at nearby places located at lower elevations?

    Is it something to do with the pressure of the air, higher up it has more air pressure making it cooler? I don’t really know but it’s an educated guess

    OK, well, I'm sorry I love using commas, I'm weird, well, because there is low pressure at high altitudes it tends to be colder on top of a mountain than at sea level ...
