Transcription is a cellular genetic process where a complementary copy of mRNA is formed from the strand of DNA. Promoter is the green light of the green light of this process. The promoter region is like a signal for the cell to start the transcription. Transcription factors recognize these particular sequences and then only the process starts. After this region, DNA starts unwinding and RNA polymerase generates complementary copy of mRNA.
