    D

    Explanation:

In the follicular phase of menstrual cycle, the secondary oocyte develops, matures, and is ready to be released from the ovary. Then enters the Leutal phase where leutinizing hormone surges and causes the ovary to release this mature ovum from its follicle into the fallopian tube. The egg travels down the tube and if it meets a sperm, it gets fertilized. When this happens, the follicle in the ovary from which the ovum came from turns into a corpus luteum that produces progesterone and supports the pregnancy in its early stages.
