Our earth is revolving around the sun and also rotating on its own axis.

Day and night occurs due to its rotation

The place where the sunlight appears is bright. So that it is a daytime. While in opposite parts the light of sun cannot reach so there is dark and we call it nighttime. However there are many stars in universe, hence we see stars but not sun at nighttime.
