What is a significant advantage to the cell in having pyruvate dehydrogenase consist of a large, multi-enzyme complex?

    Pyruvate dehydrogenase consists of three enzymes: - Pyruvate dehydrogenase, Dihydrolipoyl transacetylase, and Dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase. The short distance between these enzymes allows channeling of substrates which minimizes the side reactions.
