Do you think it's possible for people to travel to the center of the planet? Why or why not?

Is being able to physically inspect the rocks in Earth's mantle worth the high cost of drilling? Why or why not?

What other research could be done to gather more information about Earth's interior?

No I don't think it is possible because we barely made a dent in the earths crust and if we were able to drill through the crust we would reach a lava layer that would kill you

No, it is not possible to travel to the earth's center which is about 6400 km. As we go below the earth's surface, the pressure and the temperature increases with depth and this we call it as the geothermal gradient (i. e change in pressure and temperature with depth), which is approximately 25° C/km. Due to this extreme pressure-temperature condition, life is impossible to exist at that huge depth. No, it is physically not possible to inspect the rocks that are present in the mantle are worth high cost of drilling as it is not possible to drill down the crust more than about 10-12 km. Moreover, the materials in the mantle are denser at the bottom and lighter at the top and at this huge depth, drilling is totally impossible. Geophysicists plays a dynamic role in studying the earth'r interior. In addition to that, they also study about the P and S-waves that generates at certain depth and also its different types.

Note - P wave is Primary wave

    S wave is Secondary wave
