    The organs that are deemed as the ultimate acid-base regulatory organs are the kidneys. They have very important functions in the balance of the acid and base. First, they are responsible in reabsorbing the bicarbonate from urine. Second, they are responsible in excreting the hydrogen ions to the urine.
