Which characteristics allow the fetus to thrive, despite a lower than average blood po2?

    A fetus that has a low PC02 will also suffer the fetal hemoglobin carrying more oxygen than usual. The pH of the fetus blood will become higher than that of the mothers blood. It will carry more oxygen than the typical adult hemoglobin does.
