As the meteor gets closer to earth it begins to get pulled in by earths gravity. When the meteor reaches earths atmosphere it begins to fall faster and faster. If the meteor is 10 meters or under it will burn up due to the earths atmospheric friction. If it is larger than 10 meters it will plummet and strike the earth. The effects it causes depends on the size of the meteor.
