    Japan depends on nuclear power as there are no alternative resources of power/electricity generation in the country.

    It has a very small coal reserve. However, it has no oil and natural gas reserve. Japan has very small land parcel thus, solar energy in no way be considered as the major source of energy. Also its geographical location is also not suitable for solar energy production.

    The nation's economy has boomed drastically after 1950's and in order to cater the increasing energy requirement Japan has to rely on nuclear power.
