What changes in the food industry created the Western diet and can be linked to chronic diseases such as coronary heart disease, diabetes, stroke and cancer?

    The attempt by farmers to maximize profit prompted them to give hormones e. g streroids to animals to increase their biochemical reactions therefore the the products yields e. g they are giving steroids to poultry to improve chicken, eggs production; and to cattle for improved beef and milk production.

    In order to obtain maximum sugar and fats productions, cheap calories forms of there are being produced. e, g fructose, maltose. if maltose is consumed in excess it leads to obesity, while fructose increases the level of cholesterol. These products requires a lot of processing with different chemical products which leads to health problems after consumption
