While a home was undergoing a renovation, workers discovered that there was asbestos in the walls. Before any further work could be attempted, the family that owned the house had to evacuate, and specialists were brought in to remove the asbestos. Why would the house contain a substance that forced the family to be evacuated?

    Asbestos was used in housing for many years because it was cheap to manufacture and was amazingly heat-resistant, but was found to be incredibly dangerous, causing innumerous accounts of lung cancer and related problems.

    This is from memory, but I will double check after I answer.
