The process by which one large nucleus splits into two nuclei

The name of this process is: Nuclear Fission

Nuclear Fission is considered as transmutation since the Resulting fragments after the split is not the same element as the initial atom.

This process also would result in large amount of energy from the production of Gamma Photons and neutrons.
