An endangered seal species consists of a single population. An earthquake divides its habitat, creating one large population of about 2,000 individuals and another, much smaller population of 50 individuals. Describe how the genetic variation of the smaller population compares to the genetic variation of original population.

    Since the small population is, well, smaller, it's clear enough to see that the genetic variation among that population won't be as prevalent as it will in the larger population. The larger population simply has more genes to choose from, of course.
