    Answer: Haploid cells contain a single set of chromosomes while diploid cells contain two sets of chromosomes. Haploid cells have half the number of chromosomes as in the parent cell while diploid cells contain the same number of chromosomes as the parent cell.

Diploid cells produces two daughter cells in mitosis while haploid cells produce four daughter cells in meiosis. Diploid cells have (2n) number of chromosomes while haploid cells have (n) number of chromosomes. Diploid cells are somatic cells or body cells while haploid cells are sex cells or gametes. Diploid cells are involved in body growth and repair while haploid cells are involved in sexual reproduction.
