    Coagulase reacts with prothrombin in the blood, enabling the enzyme protease to convert fibrinogen, a plasma protein produced by the liver, to fibrin. Which then results in clotting of the blood.

    However fibrin clots are dissolved by Plasminogen the inactive precursor of plasmin, a potent serine protease involved in the dissolution of fibrin blood clots.
