Phytoplanktons are different from plants because phytoplankton is a unicellular organisms i. e. made from only one cell while plants are multicellular organisms i. e. made from more than one cell. In phytoplankton, one cell perform all life functions while in plants, for every process there are special cells. Phytoplankton lives in the water and a basic component of marine ecosystem while plants lives on both water and land.
