A tumor refers to a growth that takes place when the cells proliferate too briskly. The two main types of tumors are benign tumors and malignant tumors. The benign form of tumor is not cancerous in nature. They can either grow or spread or can do so very gradually. After removing them, they generally do not come back.

The malignant tumors are cancerous in nature, in this, the cells can develop and spread to other components of the body. Metastasis refers to the dispersion of cancer cells from the location where they initially got produced to another section of the body.

In metastasis, the dissociation of the cancer cells takes place from the primary tumor, and gets translocated to other organs or tissues of the body via blood or lymph system and produces new form of tumor.

Some of the categories of malignant cancer are as follows:

1. Carcinoma: It refers to cancer, which begins in the skin or the tissues, which surrounds other organs.

2. Leukemia: It refers to a cancer of bone marrow that develops blood cells.

3. Sarcoma: It refers to a cancer of connective tissues like muscles, bones, blood vessels, and cartilages.

4. Lymphoma and myeloma: It refers to the cancers of the immune system.
