When a comet nears the sun, what happens to the nucleus?

    It becomes gas. The sun heats up the frozen comit, causing it to become gas.

    first are sure it is the nucleus, because normally you would say the tail, but it is the second one because the suns heat causes the ice to start to melt. that could mean it is no. 3 though so ...
