Municipal, medical and toxic industrial waste contain various types of chemicals that may be harmful when incinerated. The composition of the waste varies, for example, industrial waste contains lots of chemicals whereas medical waste contains more of decayed organs, needles, and bloodstained gauzes.

The incineration of waste results to exhausted products produced by combustion of the waste which would be harmful to the atmosphere. H ydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and carbon dioxide would be released into the air.
