Many bone abnormalities are characterized by changes in the normal structure of bone markings. Defective openings that are larger than normal can be particularly problematic. Why may this be true? The bones would not have adequate support and stability. Large openings can pinch nerves. Large openings will encase delicate structures and protect them from trauma. It will not allow for blood vessels to pass through.

The bones would not have adequate support and stability.

    Explanation:

The surfaces of bones are mostly not smooth and have several raised or rough regions which are called bone marking. Depression and opening are the surface markings of bones that serve to provide passage for blood vessels, nerves, tendons, ligaments, etc. Some of these bone markings include sinuses, foramen, fossae, etc.

When these bone openings are larger than normal, the bone will become thinner and would not be able to withstand the forces and stress. It would make the bones weaker and prone to breakage.
