What substances, present in fruits and vegetables, provide significant health benefits such as reducing the risk of cancer?

    The answer is Phytochemicals. Phytochemicals are chemical compounds made by plants.

    You can find them in fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, and grains. Phytochemicals often get confused with Phytonutrients. The difference between the two is that not all Phytochemicals are beneficial.

    Examples of bad Phytochemicals would be cocaine, nicotine, oxycodone, and codeine.

    Examples of good Phytochemicals are Carotenoids, Polyphenols, Flavonoids, Anthocyanins, and Lignans.
