What is significant about the male reproductive organ as it applies to internal fertilization?

    By definition, an internal fertilisation takes place when the egg cell becomes "fertilised" as it unites with the sperm cell. The male reproductive organ is essential to the process because this organ releases semen, in which it contains billions of sperm swimming until one gets united with the egg cell.
