If the alleles on chromosomes differ, these chromosomes are said to be chromosomal abnormalities. These abnormalities can be deleted chromosomes, mutated chromosomes, or chromosomes with one or two few pairs (trisomomy or monosomy). When mitosis and meiosis occur, these pairs of chromosomes are copied and when this process is done incorrectly, it can result in chromosomal mutations / abnormalities. When these are found in a karyotype, scientists and doctors can identify and diagnose genetic disorders.
