Why are high levels of genetic diversity (in a population) and species diversity (in an ecosystem) considered important environmental indicators and how are they beneficial?

    High level of genetic diversity allow for new alleles to express the variation within the gene pools, allowing new characteristics to develop, which overall increase the way of natural selection, keeping the most desired traits to reproduce and survive
